GFANA is a series of experimental collaborations, curated workshops and events drawing on Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) techniques and the vital practice of Brazilian dramatic practitioner and activist Augusto Boal. Centring the participants through meditative and active collaborative approaches GFANA aims to consider both contemporary art as praxis and as a vehicle for establishing sustainable community-based relations and infrastructures. It is a hybrid platform where visual art meets theatre practice. GFANA may manifest in many capacities from performative actions, socially inclusive projects, protest or visual expressions. It is a supportive active intersection for artists and the community.
